Summary

HanziToday does not collect your study data. Your plan, progress and the characters you have learned live only in the browser on your device. There is no account, no server storing study data, no analytics, and no advertising.

What we store on your device

When you create a plan, the app saves to the browser's localStorage: your target and number of days, the schedule for each day, progress on each part, the mastery level of each character and word, and your streak.

None of it is sent to any server. We have no way to read it.

When the data is lost

Because there is no copy anywhere else, your progress will be lost and cannot be recovered if you:

• switch to another phone or computer;
• clear browser data (cookies and site data);
• open the site in a different browser;
• use private browsing.

This is a deliberate trade: in exchange, you need no account, and no study data leaves your device.

Servers and access logs

The site is delivered through a content delivery network (CDN). The CDN provider keeps access logs — IP address, time, browser type — to protect the system and measure traffic.

This is standard for any web hosting service. We do not use these logs to identify you, and we do not combine them with study data, which never leaves your device.

Feedback you send us

The site has a feedback form, but it does not send anything through our servers. When you press the button, the email app on your device opens with the content pre-filled, and you press send yourself.

If you do send it, we receive the email address you entered and what you wrote. That is the only data we ever receive, and only because you chose to send it.

We use it to reply to you and to improve the site. We do not add you to a mailing list, do not sell it, and do not share it with third parties. If you want it deleted, send an email asking us to delete it — we will remove both the message and the address.

How long we keep things

Study data stays on your device until you clear browser data. We hold no copy.

Feedback emails stay in our inbox until the issue is handled, or until you ask us to delete them.

Data crossing borders

The content delivery network has points of presence in many countries, so requests for the site may travel through infrastructure in another country. Study data is not part of those requests — it never leaves your device.

Cookies

The app currently sets no cookies at all. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies.

Third parties

No third-party scripts are loaded. Stroke data is bundled with the app and served from the same domain, not fetched from someone else's CDN.

The feedback form works by opening the email app on your device — you send the content yourself; we do not collect it automatically.

Advertising

There is currently no advertising on the site.

If that changes, this page will be updated before any ads appear, and a cookie consent banner will be shown before any advertising cookie is set.

Your rights

You control all of it: clearing browser data deletes everything. Because there is no account, there is no deletion request to send us — and no copy for us to delete.

Children

The site is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be announced inside the app before they take effect.
